Pastor of Worship Ministry Job Description

                   First Baptist Church of Elgin

The Pastor of Worship Ministry will promote the vision, direction and values

of First Baptist Church of Elgin and in particular give leadership and provide                        

direction to the overall worship and music ministry of the church.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    CORE OBJECTIVES

             • Support the corporate vision and strategy of First Baptist Church of

              Elgin
      

        • Provide weekly worship experiences that are fresh, theologically

             sound and complement the pastoral message

        • Multiply the ministry by recruiting, equipping and training others

         • Provide vision to the worship ministry by determining an annual plan                 

             that will continue to develop the ministry

     PRIMARY MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES

              • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to plan the weekly worship

              services and other special services and events including, but not

              limited to, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas

          • Provide pastoral leadership and care to those who serve in the worship

              ministry

         • Recruit, develop and lead worship ministry teams which include, but                    

              are not limited to, vocalists, instrumentalists, lighting, sound, media,

              drama, ushers and greeters

         • Motivate and inspire the congregation to grow in becoming a worshipping
              community of believers

         • Develop and manage the annual budget for worship ministries

         • Perform all other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor

      QUALIFICATIONS

          • Demonstrates the character described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and

             Galatians 5:22-26

          • Demonstrates strong musical leadership skills

        • Demonstrates strong administrative, program planning and management skills

        • Demonstrates an appreciation of and is well versed in a broad range of

             musical styles

     PREFERENCES

        • 3-5 years experience in adult worship

        • Experience in a full-time multi-staff environment

          • Formal music training with strong arranging skills and knowledge of a

             variety of musical instruments.

        • Familiar with current technology and trends in worship music

     ACCOUNTABILITY

The Pastor of Worship Ministry is accountable to the Senior Pastor. An annual
performance review is to be completed by the Senior Pastor.
